OUR EXPERIENCE

Our combined years of experience in the field have given us an extensive understanding of the attachment process and the developmental impact on children who have experienced early trauma. We appreciate the on-going challenges that caring for a child with developmental trauma present to those caring for them throughout childhood and adolescence. We recognise the importance of stability in children's lives and work systemically to stabilise placements in foster or residential care and to support educational placements so that experiences of change are minimised.

We also have knowledge and experience of the difficulties faced by children, young people and their families at certain times in the course of the family life cycle and in response to certain events/experiences including: bereavement; divorce; changes of school; onset of puberty, etc.

We recognise that everybody's experience is different and therapeutic response is therefore individually tailored in response to assessment of need. Our therapeutic approach is primarily informed by DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) principles alongside which we can employ complementary techniques/interventions including Solution Focused therapy, Non-Directive Play approach, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Systemic Practice Principles.
